Creativity is needed to be competitive in the globalized apparel chain. Design input from graduates attending fashion schools all over the world can be considered an enormous resource. At the same time there is a huge gap between those young designers and the industry. IAF aims to play a role in building an international bridge between creativity and commerce. In this field IAF will build on existing national activities and on the successful IAF International Designer Award event that has been held in Istanbul, Barcelona, Thessaloniki, Taipei, Maastricht, New Delhi, Hong Kong and Mexico.

The fashion industry is growing into a global business. Therefore, fashion personnel of globally operating companies often become part of a global personnel market. Especially highly specialised personnel should not hesitate to move across the globe for job opportunities. The same holds true for specialised schooling. With the IAF Student Award, IAF encourages young people to work in our sector. Students can be selected who have excelled throughout their degree programme in Computer Aided Design, Product Development or Technical Design. Universities that are education members of IAF participate in this award scheme. Winners of the IAF Student Award are offered a six month to one year internship including accommodation, salary, medical insurance and visas/work permits at internationally renowned companies in the fashion chain.
